Turn a rom-com night into a game night

Rom-com movies never get old. A love letter to classic romantic comedies, the places we meet people, and a rom-com game night idea for cozy nights in.

Rom-Com Movies and TV I’ll Never Get Tired Of (And Why We Need Romantic Comedies Again)

I have a confession to make: I like rom-coms!

For me, with so much fear in the world, I desire happy movies over movies like Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966), Ouija (2014), Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988)

And Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)... And by the way, thanks for turning one of my favourite childhood books into a horror movie. Really appreciated. :)

The places you can meet people (maybe)

I remember my Mom telling me she was asked by a younger woman, "Where do you meet someone?"

Go to places where you like to hang out, and perhaps you’ll meet someone who likes those places and your interests too.

That was smart advice.

For me, that would be a record store, book store, a movie theatre, small live music venue, a coffee/tea shop, comedy club, having fun in nature, and last but not least, a funny gift store. 😜

Have you noticed the lack of good ROMANTIC COMEDY movies and TV shows?

I’ve noticed fewer rom-com movies and romantic comedy TV shows lately, and it makes me wonder.

Maybe the lack of these stories has changed the way we date. Maybe not.

Coincidence? I don’t know. But it’s suspicious.

The best rom-com movies and shows (in my completely unbiased opinion)

My favourite Romcoms are:

Say Anything
Superman
Annie Hall
The Importance of Being Earnest
Harold and Maude
Splash
Sixteen Candles
Pretty in Pink
The Sure Thing
Valley Girl
When Harry Met Sally
Serendipity
Before Sunrise
Grosse Pointe Blank
Bridget Jones’s Diary
The Wedding Singer (great soundtracks)
Amélie
The Royal Tenenbaums
There’s Something About Mary
You’ve Got Mail
High Fidelity
Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist
Singles
Garden State
Juno
500 Days of Summer
Love Actually
Muriel’s Wedding
Groundhog Day
Chocolat
Must Love Dogs
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Away We Go
The Royal Tenenbaums
Silver Linings Playbook
Lars and the Real Girl
The Lobster
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
One Day
Nobody Wants This, etc.

Like I said, I can't pick jus one!

Fact: All these movies/shows are from the past. Maybe this is another reason led to the demise of dating? What do I know, but it's just a thought.

Do you have a favourite that gets you fired up?
